Learning how to use your camera properly can be really intimidating. When you want it to capture an image the way you want you will need to use the manual functions. In the beginners course we start with the basics and in simple easy to follow tutorials, make this leap from the auto settings to the manual settings. You will be really surprised how you can understand these settings and start capturing images the way you want not the way the camera thinks you should. We also start looking at some basic and fundamental retouching techniques using Photoshop.

When you have confidence using your camera and want to take it a step further I recommend you enrol into the advanced course. If you have started in the beginners course and find it too simple I can transfer you to the advanced course or vice versa. In the advanced course the focus is turning your hobby into a money making profession where you learn how to shoot commercially. We look at advanced retouching, lighting, shooting events, macro, camera customisation, shooting stock and getting clients.  You can also purchase each tutorial individually.

I found your notes very constructive and I am open to all your advice re the transgression of being a “happy snapper” into becoming a “photographer”. Was surprised to see that I had done so well but I think in these early learning days you are being less critical and very encouraging which stimulates students like myself to only do better in the next submission.   • That’s it ! …I finally made it to the end.  It has been an amazing journey, looking back to where I started to where I am now.  Thank you, for looking after this course and all the feedback you put in to each and every assignment, it certainly makes a difference.  I have yet to really make any sort of career in photography yet, I still find it hard to head in the one direction.  Since coming back from Malaysia, I have found starting out again difficult at times; the amount of photographers or mums with cameras out here is staggering.  I think I would like to head into more food/commercial photography, it just means working out some marketing.
